Prefabrication:

The practice of assembling components of the structure for a manufacturing site and transporting assemblies to the construction site, is gaining popularity and considered as a the new trend in building practices. Prefabrication has its perks; it saves a lot of time since building elements in a factory before the actual process of construction can save delays. Secondly, it is cost effective as less labor is required to build prefabricated parts.

Building Information Modeling:

Construction and building in Pakistan  is an extremely time consuming and expensive process. Builders and contractors spend a considerable amount of time estimating the time and money they’ll have to put in building up a structure. These big estimations are very rarely come near to the exact cost and time, but not anymore. With the advent of Building Information Modeling (BIM), contractors can use this software to make 3D designs of structures that can also take into account the cost and time information. The software also has features that allows you to mold and manipulate the construction methods and materials used to compare costs and time.

The Use Of Virtual Reality And Augmented Reality:

In earlier times, workers were given booklets and handouts providing guidelines about the working conditions and how work will be carried out, but this practice had failed to cut down the accidents occurring at the construction site. Construction companies are now using VR/AR technologies to make worker training process much better. This allows them to do virtual walkthroughs of the structure before it even starts.

Penetrable Concrete:

The permeable concrete uses big stones and has less amount of sand which makes it strong and allows empty space in between as well. The overuse of concrete and unplanned designs of concrete structures does not absorb water and so, the local governments have to spend excessive amounts on run off mitigations. This porous concrete allows water to absorb into the ground rather than it running off; this extends the life of concrete structures and subsequently saves repair costs.

The Advent of Fly Ash Bricks:

In the south Asian region where coal mining is done excess and there is rapid expansion of coal-fired plants, the environmental concerns have been growing. The ash mixes in the air to cause air pollution and waste ash stored in ash ponds poses great risk to groundwater. To tackle this issue and also help in the construction process, fly ash bricks are introduced. These bricks are lighter but much stronger than the traditional bricks.

Solar Materials and Roads:

Although this concept is yet to mature and brought into use, but its expected benefits cannot be subsided. Solar roads will absorb sunlight and electric vehicles will charge while going through them. This technology will require heavy budget but it will prove to be only beneficial in the longer run since it will save our fossil fuels. All power generation will be done via sunlight.
